amplify5 secures significant minority investment from Literacy Capital to fund its growth and expansion

Literacy Capital plc has completed an investment into amplify5, a provider of market leading offshore contact centre and administration services from Cape Town, South Africa.

Founded by Alastair Brass in 2021, amplify5 has started to transform the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector with its innovative “built by clients for clients” model focused on the following five key pillars: Flexibility, Speed, Full access, World class offices and All-inclusive pricing, delivering to both large corporates and SMEs across the UK, Europe and the US.

Given his deep operational experience of outsourcing to South Africa and across the world, Alastair identified an opportunity to build a new business that would abolish the pain points he had personally experienced when offshoring thousands of roles for well-known UK customer facing brands.

The investment from Literacy Capital will support amplify5’s ambitious growth plans to build an organisation of more than 5,000 colleagues, with a continued focus on building a customer-first, people-centric business that overdelivers versus expectations. Alastair will continue in his current role as Founder and CEO ensuring that amplify5 accelerates its innovative approach of “offshoring as a service”. The transaction is Literacy’s 25th platform investment since the inception of the fund in 2017.

“In Literacy Capital, we’ve found an investment partner who is a great cultural fit that will provide the backing for growth that amplify5 needs for the next stage of our journey as a company. Their support will ensure we can strengthen key elements of our proposition while continuing to deliver outstanding service to our current clients. The whole management team and I are delighted to be working in partnership with Paul Pindar and Richard Pindar, plus the entire Literacy Capital team. Their previous BPO experience will strengthen our position as the most customer-focused and innovative provider in the sector. It has also been reassuring, through this plrocess, to see how our two organisations align on our commitment to having a wider social impact, especially in the area of improving literacy for young people in our local communities. Their resources, experience, and values will ensure that we can successfully scale and continue to disrupt the global BPO industry, while also creating valuable career opportunities for our current and future colleagues in Cape Town and beyond.”
